TSRC Corporation (TSRC)’s “Bionic Mono Material Leather” joint development program with Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), has won 2024 R&D 100 Awards in recognition of the innovative materials and application processes delivering products with superior user experience and sustainability. The award-winning Bionic Mono Material Leather utilizes TSRC specialty high-flow SEBS polymer and TTRI’s solvent-free biomimetic fiber forming technology to achieve textural property requirements of the multi-layer leather. The mono material solution, a meltblown material, offers unparalleled performance in breathability and elastic stretching, along with sustainability benefits of fabrication process optimization, better recyclability, and lower carbon footprint. “By collaborating with renowned research institutions such as TTRI, TSRC has successfully developed cutting-edge technologies, accelerated the commercialization of new products, and delivered comprehensive solutions for demanding applications, all driven by an open innovation mindset.” says Qiwei Lu, vice president of Global R&D, TSRC.
